Sunblock
The effects and benefits of sunscreen are already proven. It is a fact that people must ideally wear sunscreen in order to shield themselves from the harmful rays of the sun. It can be argued endlessly that sunscreen is a must in the everyday activities of the common man.
Save for the incredible benefits of sunscreen to the health of the individual, sunscreen is also there for other cosmetic purposes like the prevention of premature wrinkles caused by immoderate sun exposure. Regardless of age, sex, race, or skin type sunscreen is important to the skin. UV rays are harmful as it not only causes wrinkles and premature skin aging but also causes skin cancer and other types of skin diseases. So sunscreen is a must.
SPF 15 is the lowest recommended sun protection factor. The SPF is a gauge on how long a person can stay in the sun. While people with different skin types have different burn intervals, it is still necessary to wear sunscreen. It is said that someone who is fair-skinned can stay in the sun for fifteen minutes until he or she is burnt. A darker skinned person can stay in the sun for long. Despite this difference in burn intervals, sunscreen is still recommended.
The SPF serves as a way to prolong this burn interval. It helps the wearer enjoy the sun more, say in the beach or during the summer. SPF 15 means a burn interval of 15 times longer (15 mins * SPF 15 = 225 minutes, which is roughly more than 3 hours.) But sunscreen is not only for those bright, sunny days. It must also be worn even when the sun is not high in the sky as in winter. Because while the sun is not present, the harmful UV rays can still penetrate and get on your skin.
So lather some sunscreen so you can safely soak up the sun!
